From September 13 to 28, 2008, I cycled in mid-west England and
around Wales, starting at Oxford.
I rode northwest from there, staying overnight at Stratford-upon-Avon, Bridgnorth, and Oswestry in England,
then in Wales at St. Asaph, Bangor, Pwllheli, Barmouth, Aberystwyth, Cardigan, Carmarthen, and Swansea.
Returning to England, I stayed at Chipping Sodbury and Cirencester, then back to Oxford.
The map shows my route (green line) and places where I stayed (red dots).
Because of difficult road conditions, I used the train to go between Llandudno and Bangor in the north,
and in southern Wales from Llanelli to Swansea then from Swansea to Yate on the north-east side of Bristol,
as shown by the dashed lines.
The tour distance was about 550 miles (900 km) through moderately hilly country.
The map also shows the routes of my 2005 and 2006 trips
(mauve line with orange dots, and blue line with green dots, respectively).
