TOUR DE BRETAGNE 2005

Tour of Brittany (Bretagne) France, October   2005

I spent October 7 to 18 on a bicycle tour of Brittany, the most westerly departement (province) of France. My 850-km (520-mile) trip began at the departmental capital of Rennes. Follow on the map my approximate route in red as I rode north to Pontorson (day 1) and made an afternoon trip to Mt. St. Michel, just 10 km north. The following five days I pedaled my way westward then southward, mainly along the coast, staying overnight at Erquy (2), Treguier (3), Morlaix (4), Lillia (5), and Le Conquet (6), visiting the westernmost part of mainland France at Pointe de Corsen on day 6. I then headed east and south, skirting Brest to reach La Faou (7), Quimper (8), Quimperle (9), Vannes (10), Guer (11), then back to Rennes on day 12.  Look at the blue stars on the map to see the places I stayed during the tour.
